Popular Methods of Predicting Ovulation

  27 May 2012

Ovulation predictor calendar method

Popular Methods of Predicting Ovulation Today, we have modern methods for predicting ovulation, but sometimes those methods are not at your disposal, or you simply don’t trust those methods. Women know how to predict ovulation perfectly for millenniums, without the help of the ovulation predictor kits or without the help of blood samples, therefore you can use those methods with great trust. This way, you will save money, and only if those methods don’t work, you can think about spending money with a doctor or with complicated devices.

The best time to conceive a child is during ovulation, or with 12-24 hours before. The egg is fertile only for a limited period, therefore you will have to know your body well in case you want to use the calendar method to increase the chances of getting pregnant. This method will help you predict the most fertile period effectively only if you have a regular cycle. When you want to conceive a child, your attention is focused on a single problem, meaning to predict when you ovulate. The ovulation is the moment when the ovule is ready to be fertilized by spermatozoids.

You can monitor the menstrual cycle, and this is the simplest method with which you can determine when ovulation occurs. If you have a regulated cycle, it is easy to estimate the moment of ovulation. You must also understand the difference between a menstrual cycle and menstruation. The doctors will refer with the expression “menstrual cycle” at the whole cycle that lasts 28 days, and this includes menstruation, meaning the moment when the dead ovule is eliminated, ovulation and all the intermediary stages. The normal menstrual cycle lasts for about 28 days, and the ovulation appears starting with the 14th day of the cycle. As a consequence, in order to keep precise evidence, you can mark the most fertile time in the calendar, especially the period from the 12th to the 16th day after the beginning of the menstrual cycle, which is considered the first day of menstruation.

The Basal Body Temperature method

The basal body temperature is another method to determine the most fertile period. Although it is a precise one, it will last about three months before you can use it effectively, as the first two months are used to observe and to keep track of the temperature, and for the third month, you will have to make predictions based on the results of the first two months of observation.

As the basal temperature modifies only with one degree during ovulation, even the one-tenth degree increments might be important. Therefore, you will need a performing thermometer in order to determine this period. By keeping track of your menstrual cycle, and especially of the basal temperature for the whole duration of the month, after a while, you will be able to anticipate the fertile period.

Simple Monitoring of Cervical Mucus changes

The cervical mucus and its changes in consistency and color is another important ovulation monitor method. The consistency of this mucus changes during the different stages of the menstrual cycle, therefore this is an accepted method to predict ovulation.

Usually, monitoring ovulation means to follow all those signs and to determine the most fertile period. This method must be used both by women that want to conceive, but also by women that want to prevent unwanted pregnancies. A woman is capable of remaining pregnant for 5 days a month, but don’t take this as a safe method! In some cases, and they are not rare, a woman can remain pregnant before or after the ovulation, as it also depend on the quality of the sperm of the partner. Therefore, if you want to monitor ovulation effectively, you will also have to consider those days before and after the event.

As a conclusion, if you are able to determine ovulation without the ovulation predictor test, in case you want to avoid an unwanted pregnancy, it is a good idea not to have unprotected sex at least one week before and after ovulation. With this method, you will be able to avoid this problem, but just by predicting ovulation with traditional methods, you can’t be 100 % sure that you will not remain pregnant. The best method is to know how to predict ovulation, but also to use other contraceptive methods in case you don’t want to remain pregnant, or to use the ovulation predictor kits in case you want to remain pregnant.

The ovulation predictor calendar was used successfully since the antiquity, therefore it can be considered as effective, although it was not 100 % sure. Today, we have modern methods for predicting ovulation; therefore, we can combine the traditional methods with modern medical techniques. In a world dominated by diseases and stress, it is getting harder for women, especially those from the occidental world to remain pregnant, therefore you will have to know how to predict ovulation if you want to have a healthy child.
