Ovarian cysts are little size sacs filled with fluid that appear inside the ovaries of a woman. When follicle collapses with itself or when the ovulation does not happen, then Follicular cyst generate. Normally, this happens at ovulation time and it starts growing to almost 2.3 inches size in diameter. It can cause severe pain on sides of ovary where the cyst develops. This pain (known ad mittelschmerz) occurs at the center of Menstrual at the time of ovulation. - Corpus luteum cyst
When an egg releases from the follicle, this type of ovarian happens. If you have corpus luteum cyst then a follicle also generates in your body which is called as corpus luteum. If a woman does not get pregnant then the corpus luteum cyst breaks down and eventually vanishes. - Hemorrhagic cyst
This functional type of cyst happens when the bleeding comes during a cyst. When hemorrhagic occurs, patient many have abdominal pain in one side of body where the cyst is present. - Dermoid ovarian cyst
This is a benign tumor and sometimes it is related to the mature cystic teratoma. Normally, this type of cyst occurs in young women and grows to about 6 inches size.
What causes ovarian cysts
There are various factors that can develop ovarian cysts in women’s body. These possible factors include:
- If you have previous history of ovarian cysts
- If there is irregular cycle of menstrual;
- When the distribution of upper body fat starts increasing;
- When the menstruation occurs early;
- Infertility;
- Hormonal imbalance or Hypothyroidism;
- If you have passed with Tamoxifen therapy of breast cancer.
